About Kodaikanal

Kodaikanal is a charming hill station which stands majestically at a height of 2133 metres on the southern crest of the upper Palani Hills, an off-shoot of the Western Ghats mountain range which runs north-south along the western coast of peninsular India. Kodaikanal is situated in the state of Tamil Nadu and borders the state of Kerala. Kodaikanal is located at a latitude of 10o7' N to 10o20' N and a longitude of 77o16' E to 77o45' E. It is also a popular tourist destination, with an artificial lake, and numerous scenic mountain view points.

Temperature varies from moderate to quite cool - during the summer it is between 11 and 20 oC and during the winter it is between 8 and 17oC. The average rainfall is 1650 mm per year. The population of Kodaikanal, about 35000, is highly cosmopolitan in nature.
